The Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) was passed by Congress in July 2010 and signed into law by the President on July 29, 2010. The TLOA is an extremely comprehensive statute focused on all aspects of investigating and prosecuting crime in Indian country. It is the first step toward addressing problems caused by existing division of criminal jurisdiction in Indian country.
